Ink, Watercolour and Coloured pencil on 140lb hot press Original for sale! I tried a new technique for this piece, but it didn't work out so well and I had to burnish the background into submission. The way it's supposed to work is that the coloured pencil is used for accents and tighting it up; here there are deep layers of coloured pencil on almost everything. You can see a lot of the original watercolour on the bird, and some of the ink shows through in the background. But still. A lot of burnishing. As an aside, I have no idea what king of bird this is. I took the picture in the bird aviary in Niagara Falls, and they don't have it listed in their list of species. It's probably a tropical bird, and other than that I've got nothing. |
